Prime Minister of Slovakia: EU does not talk about peace, but about war and weapons

Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico already shared his opinion about Thursday's summit meeting of the European Union in Brussels. According to him, the topic of discussion is the war in Ukraine, but no one mentions the word peace.

According to Fico, the war in Ukraine is talked about for hours, but no one talks about peace, but about war, weapons and ammunition.

Fico stated on Wednesday that Russia will not be defeated on the battlefields and to believe that Russia would give up the Donbass and Luhansk regions is naive. And, according to him, it is equally naive to think that Russia would leave Crimea.

"In a conventional war, which is now being fought in Ukraine, it is not possible to inflict a defeat on a nuclear power. Never, period,” said Fico.

Slovakia will hold presidential elections this weekend. An opinion poll published on Wednesday shows Fico's ally, the speaker of the country's parliament by Peter Pellegrini to be caught up in winning.

Pellegrini shares Fico's views that Slovakia should not arm Ukraine and that there should be a dialogue with Russia.

Pellegrini's counter-candidate is the former foreign minister of Slovakia Ivan Korcok, which on the other hand, supports military support for Ukraine and opposes dialogue with Russia.
